What does your charity owe this year?

Four questions, about two minutes. It tells you which accounts basis you can use, what actually has to go to the Charity Commission, whether anyone has to check your accounts, and the exact date it is all due. Free, and there is nothing to install.

England and Wales only — charities registered with the Charity Commission. Scotland (OSCR) and Northern Ireland (CCNI) run on different Acts with different thresholds and a different deadline, and we would give you the wrong answer.

Where is your charity registered? *

What is your charity? * A CIO is registered with the Charity Commission only, not at Companies House. If you have a company number as well as a charity number, you are a charitable company.

When does your financial year end? * The year you are doing now — the one you have not filed yet. It is on your charity's page on the public register.

Gross income for that year * Everything the charity received, in pounds. Leave out money from selling a fixed asset or an investment, and leave out any endowment received — those are receipts but they are not income.

Total assets before liabilities, at the year end only if over £3 million Only matters if it is in the millions — it can force an audit when income alone would not.
